Prof. Hyuncheol Park received the B.S and the M.S degrees in electronic engineering from Yonsei University , Korea in 1983 and 1985 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology , USA in 1997. His doctoral research focused on the design of the new coded modulation and equalization schemes using diffuse infrared radiation. He has been a senior engineer from 1985 to 1991 and a principal engineer from 1997 to 2002 at Samsung Electronic Co. , Korea. At Samsung, he leaded several pioneering projects including the design of modems for various types of high-speed wired/wireless communication standards such as the Cable modem (Docsis), Digital Audio Broadcasting (Eureka 147), Home Phone Line (HPNA 2.0), and Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11a).
Since 2002, he has been an associate professor of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, Korea and is now a director of Lab. for Information Transmission ( LIT ). Professor Park is a member of IEEE , a life member of Korean Institute of Communication Science , and a life member of The Institute of Electronics Engineer of Korea . Also he has been an editor for Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN) since 2004.
